• What is documentary wedding photography?

Also referred to a reportage or wedding photojournalism, the core of documentary wedding photography is about capturing the wedding day as it happens. With no posing for the camera or fake set ups. A documentary wedding photographer captures real moments, telling the raw and unfiltered story of a couple's wedding day.

  • Do you edit or do any retouching to wedding photographs?

In the same way that a photojournalist cannot alter photos, make composites, or retouch images, a documentary wedding photographer doesn't "Photoshop" images.

What I do as a documentary wedding photographer is edit the tone and crop a photograph to emphasize the story or moment captured in that image. I also shoot about 80% of my work with the view to making images black and white.

However, I do not retouch, add or remove anything, or "Photoshop." I work hard to make images "in camera" with the view of only doing simple toning or black and white conversions when editing photographs from a wedding.

  • How many images can I expect from my wedding?

You will become aware on your wedding day that I can take a lot of photos in a single day. However, I work hard in making photographs in camera and being very strict on the final selection of images.

In short, I emphasize quality over quantity when it comes to the final selection of images.

I deliver only the best images from the day that collectively tell the story of your wedding, which means the number can vary and will often be in the lower hundreds. However, I make no guarantees on the number of images other than making sure I deliver only the best images from the day.

  • How long does it take to deliver the photographs?

My standard delivery time is between 4 to 6 weeks.

  • How do you deliver the photographs?

Privacy on behalf of the couples I work with is crucial to the way that I work. I provide images via a password protected online gallery, from which couples can view, download, share, and order prints.

  • What formats do you provide on delivery?

I deliver photographs in JPEG format only optimized for print and web usage.

I do not provide RAW files or digital negatives. However, I can provide non-compressed TIFF files upon request for an additional fee of 200 EUR per image.

  • Do you "backup" our wedding images?

    The simple answer is, Yes.

I shoot with a full-frame camera with two memory card slots, which means every time I make an image it is immediately backed up across two memory cards. Once I have shot a wedding, I copy all the pictures from that wedding onto two separate hard drives and make a backup on cloud storage.

Failures do happen. However, making multiple backups should ensure it's unlikely that files end up in digital heaven.

  • Do you provide prints, wedding books, or albums?

Yes. Prints are orderable from your private online gallery. You can also order a wedding book for an additional fee before your wedding or later via my website: www.gregmcqueenphotographer.com/store

  • Can I post my wedding images on social media?

Of course! Please do celebrate online by posting the pictures from your wedding on social media. However, all I ask is that you tag or credit me for the images:

    Instagram: @gmcphotographer
    Facebook: @gregmcqueenphotographer
    Twitter: @gmcphotographer

On other platforms, please refer to my portfolio:

Please note that I also reserve the right to post images from your wedding on social media and on my portfolio.

  • Do you take any formal shots such as bride and groom portraits, or family and guest group shots?

Yes. However, I like to keep any formal style photography to a minimal on a wedding day.

My view is that you haven't arranged your wedding day to spend hours with a photographer. I respect the fact that couples want to celebrate their day with family and friends, and I wish to "steal" as little of that precious time as possible.

  • Do you offer any "wedding photography packages"?

No. I charge a simple fee + travel time and expenses for photographing a wedding day. The fee varies depending on travel time and how much of your wedding day you wish documented.

My basic fee starts @ 1300 EUR.

  • Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. To secure your booking you will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of 100 EUR.

The deposit is paid online or via bank transfer and is deducted from your overall fee.

Payment of any deposits or fees does not include any banking transfer or commission fees

  • When is the fee for wedding photography due?

The remaining fee is due 7 to 10 days before the date booked for your wedding.

  • Is my deposit or wedding fee transferable?

No. Once your booking is confirmed and the deposit paid it is non-refundable and non-transferable. You will need to rebook and pay a new deposit should you wish to secure a new date.

I book weddings on a first come first served basis, so, I cannot guarantee availability should you need to rebook an alternative date once the deposit is paid.

Once you have paid your wedding fee 7 to 10 days before your wedding day, it also becomes non-refundable as it highly unlikely I will be able to book a replacement wedding for the same day at such short notice.

  • What happens if I need to cancel my wedding?

You can cancel your wedding booking up to 6 months before the date of your wedding. Should you need to cancel within 6 months of your wedding date, 50% (minus deposit) of your wedding fee is due upon cancellation.

I book weddings on a first come first served basis, so, it is highly likely that I have had to turn away other weddings once you have booked your dates.

So, canceling so close to your wedding date means I have probably turned away other potential couples, which reduces the chances of me being able to book another wedding for the same dates should you cancel

  • What happens if you as the photographer cancel?

Should I need to cancel due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, I reserve the right to hire in an alternative photographer to fulfill the booking for your wedding day.

  • Where do you shoot weddings?

I am available to document weddings in Denmark, Scandinavia, the UK, and across Europe.
